MICHELA MARIA MICHELA MARIA

Hi, I’m Michela! I’m a writer-director whose work keeps her shuttling between LA and New York. But as someone born into an Italian-American family, living between two worlds honestly feels like second nature.

I got my start directing comedy shorts for Adult Swim, Above Average, and Funny or Die. Nowadays, I bring my comedy to the commercial world. I’m on the directing roster at CRY, a commercial production company based in Brooklyn, and my clients have included Netflix, HBO, Amazon, Google, and more.

In 2024, I directed The Fenty Beauty + Skin Experience for Rihanna’s beauty brand, which won The Webby Award for Best Brand Integration. In 2023, I directed Netflix’s Stranger Things Immersive Watch Party, which was nominated for the Primetime Emmy in Outstanding Innovation in Emerging Media Programming, and for The Producer’s Guild Innovation Award.

Of all my work, I’m most proud of Heirloom, a film about my Italian-American family that starred Isabella Rossellini. Heirloom was a recipient of a The Russo Brothers’ Italian American Film Forum grant.
